Case Support Specialist – Jacksonville, FL
Kinder Relief, a non-profit dedicated to supporting children in conflict zones through medical evacuation and care, is seeking a compassionate and organized support specialist to provide comprehensive social and emotional support to children receiving medical treatment abroad. This role involves close collaboration with the child and family, host families, volunteers and medical professionals to ensure the children’s overall well-being and successful treatment experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Family and Host Community Support: Partner with host families and the communities involved in the child’s care, offering guidance, emotional support, and resources to ensure a nurturing environment.
- Coordination of Medical and Supportive Services: Oversee the scheduling of all necessary appointments, including medical consultations, therapy sessions, and essential follow-up visits for each child.
- Family Communication and Updates: Act as the primary contact for families, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Community Collaboration: Work closely with volunteers and community members to provide comprehensive support for each child and their companions, including activities and other needs as they arise.
- Child Advocacy: Advocate within the healthcare system to ensure each child’s needs, rights, and well-being are prioritized throughout their treatment journey.
- Holistic Care and Support: Assist in addressing all aspects of the child’s experience, including administrative, logistical, and personal support during their stay.
- Travel and On-Site Support: Be available to travel locally as necessary to accompany children to their appointments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in social work, patient care, or case management, ideally in healthcare or humanitarian sectors.
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English, with strong communication skills in each language to effectively support families and the community.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, with a talent for building trusting relationships with children, families, and community partners.
- Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records.
- High level of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a sincere commitment to improving the lives of children and families in vulnerable situations.
